LETICIA STREET

Leticia street photo

return to gallery

This street runs parallel to the waterfront. During high water, this street is usually flooded and access from the river to the town is provided by the wooden bridge you can see in the background. Street lights attest to the prosperity of the town which arose primarily from the cocaine trade in the 1970s and 1980s. This activity has diminished due to stronger government control and Leticia's main income is today derived from fish and lumber exports and tourism.
