ACACIA DROOPING LEAVES

During high water in the Amazon, when the rivers flood, most acacias enter a dormant period, when photosynthesis slows down. Dormancy is indicated by drooping leaves, as shown in the photograph. This time is when many species are in flower, presumably because the higher water levels increase insect density, thus increasing the chances of pollination.
