Selling handicrafts is an important source of additional income for people living in remote villages. It is also, perhaps unfortunately, a lesson in economics, as supply easily outstrips demand. So when a tourist riverboat arrives, handicraft vendors flock to it, pulling alongside in their canoes full of wares.
