Mango (Mangifera indica) is not native to the Amazon. It is originally from Asia, but grows well and is widely cultivated. When ripe, the yellow fruit is eaten on its own (in villages) or it is used to flavor drinks, or desserts such as ice-cream (in towns and cities). It's delicious!
