RAINFOREST SNAKE DRAWINGS

Why are people so afraid of snakes? Well, some people like them, as we can see in the drawings here. Some snakes are poisonous so it's important to stay clear of them, especially if you do not know what kind of snake it is. But most snakes are harmless. Many more snakes are killed by people than the other way round. Some snakes are very important to keep down pests like rats and mice. There are lots of different kinds of snakes in the Amazon, including the world's biggest snake, the anaconda.

This is the longest snake ever! It's at least as long as an anaconda. And the colors are great! Loran was very careful to include the tail. Can you find it? Loran titled this drawing "One looooong snake!"

Like most snakes, boa constrictors are not poisonous. They kill their prey by squeezing the air out of them. They are very strong. Most boas also have striking patterns, as Austin has shown us in his picture.

TREE BOA BY CAMERON

Cameron#39;s picture of a tree snake is in a typical pose. They wind around branches and wait for prey to come by, and then suddenly strike. Tree snakes are very well-camouflaged, and often look like branches. This one looks like an emerald tree boa. Cameron says, "I checked out your website. It was cool!"
