RAINFOREST JAGUAR DRAWINGS

Who cannot be impressed by the jaguar? It is the biggest cat in the Amazon rainforest, and one of the biggest cats in the world. They typically eat large herbivorous mammals such as tapir and peccaries, but they're not fussy eaters and will take many different kinds of prey. Derek has shown his jaguar taking a drink. It's the only time they're vulnerable, and the jaguar looks around furtively. The trees have bromeliads growing on the branches.

JAGUAR IN FOREST BY MARIA

return to gallery

This beautiful drawing, which Maria titled "The Jaguar" shows the animal in its element—surrounded by mysterious forest. Above the jaguar is a vine, going from one tree to another. In the foreground is a snake, so the jaguar must be careful. A poisonous snake is the only animal that can really threaten a full-grown jaguar.
