PAN PIPES

return to gallery

Amazon Indians, like everyone, enjoy a good tune. They make a variety of musical instruments, of which wind instruments are the commonest, played to accompany several traditional dances. Pan pipes are made from hollow bamboo stems (these are very tall tropical grasses) and held together with palm fiber. (Note the tiny set left of center.)
